Privacy Policy

Debate Coach writes the reply you want to send in an argument, and can take the opposing side so you can practise against it. This policy explains exactly what happens to what you type. The short version: there is no account and no analytics, your saved arguments stay on your phone, and the text of an argument goes to Google only to generate a reply.

What leaves your device

To write a reply, the app sends your argument to Google's Gemini models through Firebase AI Logic. What is sent is limited to what the reply needs:

• The topic you entered and any messages you typed or pasted into it.
• Your setup answers for that argument — who you are up against, what you want out of it, which side you took, and how hard it should hit.
• The app's own instructions to the model, and the language to reply in.

That request is not attached to a name, an email address, an account, or an advertising identifier, because the app has none of those. We do not operate a server of our own, we do not keep a copy of your arguments, and we cannot read them. Google processes the request to produce the reply under the Firebase terms and the Google Privacy Policy.

One thing worth saying plainly: if you paste what someone else wrote to you, that text is sent as part of the request. Paste only what you are comfortable having processed, and avoid pasting other people's private details — addresses, phone numbers, account numbers — since the reply never needs them.

What stays on your device

Everything the app remembers is stored on your phone and is not transmitted to us:

• Your saved arguments and every message written for them.
• Your setup answers and tone preference.
• Whether Premium is active, cached so the app opens correctly offline.
• Bookkeeping for the "rate this app" prompt, so it is only ever shown once.

Deleting an argument removes it from your device, and Settings has a delete-everything option. Deleting the app removes all of it. Because none of it is stored anywhere else, deletion is permanent and we cannot restore it.

Subscriptions

Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system and managed with RevenueCat, which handles receipt validation and subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated installation identifier along with your purchase and receipt information. It does not receive your name, your email address, or any of your arguments, and the identifier is not linked to your identity.

Apple processes the payment. We never see or receive your payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Sharing a reply

Tapping share on a reply hands that text to the iOS share sheet, and it then goes wherever you send it — Messages, WhatsApp, email, the clipboard. That is your choice and your destination; the app is not told what you picked.

What Debate Coach does not collect

• No account, no sign-in, no email address, no password.
• No analytics or usage-tracking SDK.
• No crash-reporting SDK.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party ad networks.
• No location data.
• No contacts, photos, microphone or camera access — the app requests no system permissions at all.
• No cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Children

Debate Coach is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects no personal information, there is nothing for us to hold or delete.

The replies are written by AI

Messages and counter-arguments are generated by a language model. They can be wrong, including the facts offered as support, and they are not legal, medical, financial or professional advice. Check anything you intend to present as fact before you send it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
